JOB DESCRIPTION:

NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a versatile, intellectually curious Recruiter for its Chicago, IL office.

As part of the Chicago based Talent Acquisition team, the Recruiter will assist in developing and promulgating recruitment strategies across the organization, and be responsible for related HR items such as onboarding and new hire orientation.

It is the mission of the NORC Human Resource Department to provide effective human resource management by developing and implementing policies, programs, and services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partnering with Department hiring teams and senior leadership to develop position profiles, formulate recruitment strategies and execute sourcing plans to identify qualified candidates for interviews in a timely manner, at the most efficient cost

  • Coordinating and executing candidate screening and interviewing processes to ensure selection of best-qualified talent to meet position requirements

  • Recruiting and sourcing passive candidates, introducing NORC to potential candidates who have not yet heard of our organization

  • Describing NORC to candidates, including discussing our research work, culture, benefits and job opportunities

  • Developing and implementing organizational marketing strategies, and promoting a strong employer brand. This includes coordinating college relations activities, internships, job fairs and internal employee referral programs to promote the organization

  • Administering record keeping of applicant data, using Applicant Tracking System (Page Up) and other tools. Partnering with HRIS team

  • Ensuring that recruitment activities comply with NORC policies and OFCCP requirements. Providing and presenting recruitment data and analysis of metrics for required compliance and management reports

  • Collaborating with management to assess current recruiting programs, policies, strategies and procedures, making recommendations for process improvements as needed

  • Assisting with building and executing diversity outreach and social media recruiting programs

  • Supporting HR team with ad hoc projects as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience recruiting highly-skilled, project focused, knowledge workers. Experience with high volume recruiting is desirable. A passion for or interest in learning social science research is a strong plus

  • Competence in MS Office (Word, Excel) and MS Outlook is required

  • Experience with applicant tracking software is required

  • Must have demonstrated skills in all areas of recruitment including conducting specialized searches using advanced applicant sourcing techniques. Experience recruiting passive candidates with LinkedIn Recruiter is a plus

  • An understanding of OFCCP requirements relating to applicant data and staffing, and prior work with a Federal contractor is highly desirable

  • Experience with employment branding initiatives, including optimizing employer social media presence is a plus

  • Must be organized, hands-on, detail-oriented, flexible and enthusiastic. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and data analysis relating to recruitment metrics is needed

  • Must be focused on quality and providing excellent service to internal clients

  • Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
