The senior communications associate will create and manage strategic communication campaigns for AmeriSpeak, NORC’s panel-based research platform, and work directly with the deputy director of communications and AmeriSpeak senior leadership on communication initiatives for panel members and on a variety of research projects for external clients.

DEPARTMENT: STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS
Strategic Communications and External Affairs supports the entire NORC organization with expertise in corporate communications and creative services, external affairs, internal communications, and project-level communications. We help promote NORC to the public: we work with members of the media to publicize our research projects and our expertise; we support external events where NORC experts present or speak; we publish NORC’s annual report; we maintain the external NORC website, www.norc.org; and we manage NORC’s social media presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
AmeriSpeak® is the first U.S. multiclient household panel to combine the speed and cost-effectiveness of panel surveys with enhanced representativeness of the U.S. population, an approach designed to achieve an industry-leading response rate and an innovative sample quality report card. AmeriSpeak has become the primary survey partner of the nation's preeminent news service, The Associated Press.
Developed and funded by NORC, AmeriSpeak randomly identifies Americans—including the country’s hardest-to-reach populations—and recruits them to provide their opinions and insights on a wide range of topics critical to our clients. The outcome is a truly representative picture of America and, thus, more accurate research results for use in statistical surveys.
Source, write, proofread, edit, and post content for a variety of internal and external communications channels under the general supervision of senior staff, including research participant outreach, panel member communication, data visualizations, digital content, organization collateral materials, new business proposals, final reports, project briefs, etc.
Plan, implement, and evaluate AmeriSpeak communications initiatives, projects, and promotions, while playing an active role managing timelines, budgets, and content
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and content producers across NORC to create original content and edit existing content to enhance messaging and engage target audiences, most of which will be US general population
Develop and own communications project tracker, monitoring and analyzing tactical efforts against strategic objectives
Identify and recommend improvements to AmeriSpeak and client communication methods and messages based on best practices in strategic communications
Work closely with communications colleagues and stakeholders throughout the organization as needed and appropriate
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years of experience
At least 3 years of communications, marketing, or related experience
Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening, verbal, and written communication
Strong copy-writing and editing skills; design and presentation experience is a plus
Stellar project management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong performance/results
High attention to detail, especially around branding, design, and consistent formatting
Must be a team player/leader with open-mindedness to collaborate
Capable and eager to work effectively with multiple departments, stakeholders, and internal clients; and ability to work with multiple layers of the organization (including C-level executives)
Exceptional computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Office programs
Familiarity with Adobe Create Suite, HTML, SharePoint a plus
