JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research is seeking a qualified Senior Research Analyst to support the Center’s survey research projects. The position’s primary responsibilities include conducting background research and literature reviews on a range of social and economic issues; leading questionnaire development and testing; providing oversight and quality control of data collection and data cleaning; and contributing to analyses and report writing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct literature reviews and background research on a variety of social and economic issues

  • Identify and organize relevant polling and public opinion data for questionnaire development and reports

  • Lead tasks for questionnaire design; systems design and implementation; and testing of survey instruments

  • Prepare and lead analyses of survey data, including multivariate models

  • Contribute to team writing assignments including reports and social media postings

  • Track media coverage of polls and Center products

  • Play a key role in coordination and writing tasks related to business and grant development

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, sociology, psychology, or another social science field required, Master’s degree preferred

  • At least two years of demonstrated experience in public opinion and/or survey research

  • Outstanding interpersonal, critical reasoning, analytic, and writing skills

  • Experience with computer-based data analysis (e.g. SAS, Stata, R, SPSS)

  • Strong problem solving capability

  • The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, both independently and in project teams
